We purchase scrap metal in two broad categories - industrial and obsolete. Industrial scrap is a by-product of any metal-working industry; the automotive industry is the largest industrial source, for example. Obsolete or old scrap is worn-out, used or unwanted metal. This category includes automobiles, railroad cars, locomotives and track, farm equipment, and steel beams from buildings and bridges.

To this raw material we exert our usual quality controls during separating, preparing and processing. The importance of Ben Singer & Sons, Inc. quality standards becomes obvious when you consider there are nearly 80 grades of ferrous scrap. We currently process approximately 30,000 gross tons of scrap annually.

Below is a list of the materials we deal with the most.
